The sequel to 2013's Far Cry 3, the game sees players take control of Ajay Ghale as he travels to the fictional country Kyrat (a Himalayan region ruled under a self-appointed king) as part of a dangerous journey filled with violence from the locals who live there as well as wild animals such as leopards and bears. The game was released with a few technical issues: crashes and framerate issues, although these were fixed when the software patch "Hotfix 1.4" came out in early December 2014. It features day/night cycle, dynamic weather effects and employs a day-and-night cycle. As such, the title is only available for play between 09:00 and 18:00 (9am to 6pm) local time at each location in the game's world; this is in contrast to Ubisoft's previous releases based in Africa or Asia; Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3 both featured a full 24-hour cycle and dynamic weather effects despite being located on different continents. A key feature of the game is a three-day cycle in which events play out differently depending on the time of day, creating a sense of unpredictability which is expressed by elements such as weather, wildlife and many other factors. By day, Ajay can explore the region to find upgrades for his weapons and vehicles, while at night he must evade enemy patrols or face fierce enemies in close-quarter combat. The player can elect to engage in combat but will lose health if not careful. In addition to Ajay's single-player journey through Kyrat, there is co-op play where two players can travel together through the region simultaneously. The game's main campaign can be played either alone or with another player through the game's cooperative multiplayer mode, which is available for up to four players. The other players can be controlled by other people using their own controllers, but there is also a drop-in system where players can join in at any point. If other players are hunting nearby animals or fighting enemies, the player who is not directly in control will be able to help out the others if they are nearby. This means that one player will have to sit out during certain parts of the game, something Far Cry 3 did not have.
